Tellurium dioxide, in the appearance of white powder, can be usde as accelerator in rubber vulcanization and catalyst, and can be added into silver paste or Ag paste to get higher performance.
Tellurium dioxide can also be a conditional glass former, which means it will form a glass with molar additional of a second compound such as an oxide or holide.
TeO2 glasses have high refractice indices and transmite into the mid-infrared part of the eletromagnetic spectrum, therefore they are of technological interest for optical wavegaides.
Telluride glasses have also been shown to exhibit Roman gain up to 30 times that of silica, useful in optical fiber amplification.
